Lou Covey: Principal Director
Lou is a founder of VitalCom and serves as senior writer, chief editor and strategist for all clients. He is responsible for the day-to-day management of the agency and is directing the expansion of business worldwide. Lou has been a professional communicator for more than 30 years as a journalist, technical writer and corporate communications consultant.
Beginning his career in 1971 as a journalist, he has written for the Palo Alto Times, San Jose Mercury-News, Lodi News-Sentinel, Sacramento Bee and New York Times. His experience included covering the Ford/Carter presidential campaign in 1976 with the national press corps. He has also written for ECN and MacWorld.
Since 1990, Lou has been a communications consultant leading electronics firms including NEC Electronics and Mitsubishi Electronics America, Inc.; embedded software and hardware suppliers such as LynuxWorks, Cleanscape International and Force Computers; and CAD software companies like Synopsys, Ambit and Summit Design.
He currently leads the accounts for Celoxica, Oasis Tooling, and VaST Systems
Joe Basques: Account Manager
Joe Basques manages the emerging technology and standards practice for VitalCom, serves as the broadcast media specialist, and heads the Austin, Texas office opened in August 2005.
He began his career in public relations with AT&T Broadband and Internet services as a community relations manager and production manager for public access programming and moved to Wilson McHenry in 1998. He served all of the Wilson McHenry clients in broadcast services and worked directly on the Mellanox Technologies, Alchemy Semiconductor and Maxtor.
He offers a wide range of editorial relationships throughout the media community in both print and broadcast media. Joe graduated from San Francisco State University in 1998 with a B.A. in Mass Communication with an emphasis on media management and public relations. He is active in the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the Public Relations Society of America. He is currently managing the OCP-IP, Advantest and ProDesign accounts, as well as special projects for Enterprise Ireland.
Paul Stewart: Senior Consultant, Community and Government Relations, VitalCom
Paul Stewart is VitalCom's senior consultant for government and community relations. Paul has more than 25 years of experience in managing government and community relations, public policy implementation, legislative advocacy, budgeting, public affairs, communications planning, branding, media relations and newspaper journalism. He supplies both strategic and tactical expertise to VitalCom. Paul has worked for NASA/Ames, the Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS®, McKenzie-Scott Executive Consultants, the California Apartment Association and the Home Builders Association in four diverse areas of the state.
Ed Moore: Senior Consultant, Employee Relations, VitalCom
Ed Moore is VitalCom's senior consultant for multinational, corporate and trade association communications with emphasis on biomedical and electronics industries. Ed has more than 30 years of experience in employee communications, change management and acquisition communications, medical relations, and newspaper journalism. He supplies both strategic and tactical expertise to VitalCom. Ed has worked for Agilent Technologies, National Semiconductor, Adpatec, LSI Logic, Syntex Corporation (now Roche Pharmaceuticals), the California Trucking Association, Building Industry of Superior California, and the Tahoe Daily Tribune, among others. He holds a BS in Journalism from San Jose State University with an additional emphasis in applied sciences.
Beth Covey: Account Assistant
Beth Covey serves as assistant to both Lou and Joe. She is currently enrolled in the San Jose State University Educational Development program studying Marketing and Communications. Beth also works with theater companies and playwrites in the Bay Area.
